Marble countertops are a common choice and are very in style. Commonly seen in white and grey, but it does come in a wide array of colors.

Quartz countertops have a timeless design and bring a sense of sophistication to your home. There are two common types of quartz: Quartzite, natural quartz, and engineered quartz.

Granite

Granite is a hard and durable stone. It can withstand high heat without damage to the rock. This being said, granite countertops are not indestructible. Granite may chip over time.

Marble

Marble is a beautiful stone. However, it ranks lower on the hardness scale, making it more susceptible to scratches and staining.

Quartz

Quartz's hardness ranks amongst granite. However, the stone can not withstand high temperatures.

Placing a hot pan on quartz countertops can cause permanent damage and discoloration.

Sealing Requirments

Granite

Granite is porous, meaning it requires sealing. Without sealing, discoloration will occur.

Marble

Marble is porous, so it will also require sealing. Marble is usually preferred in light colors, making it more susceptible to discoloration and staining without sealing.

Quartz

Quartz does not require sealing since it is not a porous stone. These features also make quartz more stain-resistant and maintenance-free.
